PowerNet! Introduction

PowerNET! GPS Base Station Network

As part of the ongoing effort to provide our valued customer base with leading edge and economical measurement solutions, SOKKIA has taken the initiative to setup a GPS reference station network covering South Western/Central Ontario, initially and ultimately expanding to cover Eastern and Northern Ontario.

Sokkia supplies state-of-the-art, dual-frequency GPS products for the survey industry. SOKKIA GPS is produced through a joint venture between NovAtel Inc. of Calgary, Alberta and SOKKIA Co Ltd of Japan.

The reference station network involves installation of dual frequency GPS receivers across the province, typically 40 to 60 km apart each wired to a high speed internet connection. The GPS hosts raw GPS data on a static IP address and this data is accessed from a central server. The server in turn compiles this data, creates correction messages and relays the corrections to cellular enabled GPS Rovers in the field. SOKKIA's GSR2700 ISX is a 72-channel dual-frequency GPS/Glonass receiver with internal cellular modem.
